Theodoros Zafiropoulos is a Banking and Finance lawyer in Harneys’ Cyprus office. Theodoros regularly acts for multilateral financial institutions, international and domestic banks, private equity funds and corporate borrowers, in banking and corporate finance matters, as well as in project finance and energy, advising international oil and gas companies, governments, national oil companies and lenders on major energy transactions.
Theodoros has extensive experience working with financial institutions and borrowers on restructuring and work-out arrangements, group refinancing transactions and monitoring problem loans, and has been involved in corporate matters advising state-owned and private companies on joint venture arrangements and shareholders’ agreements, share sale and purchase agreements and other M&A transactions.
Theodoros studied law at the University of Athens and obtained an LLM in International Economic Law from Warwick University. He is qualified to practice in England and Greece and is a member of the International Bar Association, the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators and the Hellenic Russian Chamber of Commerce (where he served on the board of directors from 2014 to 2017, when he relocated to Cyprus).
Prior to joining Harneys in 2017, Theodoros worked at Norton Rose Fulbright (2001-2017) in London, Moscow, Amsterdam (on secondment with ING Bank working on the front desk of its Oil and Gas desk for Europe and the CIS) and Athens.
