Expertise and Professional Background

Patrick Colegrave is a partner in Harneys’ Cayman office. Patrick has 17 years' experience in the investment management industry, of which the last 13 years have been focused on Cayman Islands law. Patrick advises on all legal and regulatory aspects associated with investment funds domiciled in the Cayman Islands and during his career has worked on the establishment of over 500 investment funds across a broad range of strategies and in particular in the hedge fund and private equity fund space.
Patrick’s clients have included investment managers, administrators, banking institutions and other service providers in the investment management industry, as well as institutional and high net worth investors. Patrick also heads up Harneys’ Africa practice and is the key contact for clients seeking Mauritius legal services which are provided through an association with BLC Robert, a leading law firm in Mauritius.
Before joining Harneys, Patrick was an associate at Walkers and prior to that was an associate in the investment management group at Linklaters. In addition to this, Patrick has worked in-house at two leading investment management firms based in London.
Patrick has been admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, a Cayman Islands attorney-at-law, a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of the Eastern Caribbean and a legal practitioner of the High Court of Zimbabwe. Legal 500 describes Patrick as “a real talent”.
