Demetris Loizides is one of the founding partners of Aristodemou Loizides Yiolitis LLC, which merged with Harneys in December 2009. Demetris is the head of the Corporate and Commercial department of Harneys’ Cyprus office. Demetris is particularly known for his strong corporate background and specialises in corporate and commercial law. He has substantial and extensive experience in establishing sophisticated joint venture structures, restructuring and acquisitions of companies and businesses.
Demetris has led the Cyprus office in numerous high profile capital markets related transactions, including private placements; initial public offerings; and listings of Cypriot companies, including on the Warsaw Stock exchange, MAIN and AIM market of the London Stock Exchange, Oslo Børs and NASDAQ; public takeover bids; and delistings. Demetris also regularly advises on merger control and competition law issues as well as complex cases involving shareholder disputes.
Demetris offers professional assistance to both the local and the international market, counting a number of large, multinational corporations including banks among his clientele. He also enjoys a broad cooperation with leading international firms, including the magic and silver circle law firms, as well as the Big Four audit firms.
Demetris is an LLB graduate of the University of Warwick, UK and was admitted to the Cyprus Bar Association in 2002. He has been appointed to the Companies’ Committee of the Cyprus Bar Association and, since his appointment, has pioneered and been highly active and instrumental in a number of legislative amendments and developments, pertaining mainly to the Cyprus Companies Law as well as other statute laws of Cyprus. He has also published articles in his field of expertise.
